Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. I am happy to have you around my table. Recently I wrote and published, Overcoming a Fear of Failure. In today’s article I am introducing the article in video presentation format. I create video presentations of my articles to offer the information to individuals who learn through watching and listening. Below is a brief excerpt from the article:
“In yesterday’s article Don’t Give Up — Your Life Matters! I encouraged my readers to continue on their journey, to build upon milestones and successes; and to not give up because your life matters. In today’s article, I would like to share some thing with you that has helped and continues to help me. In my experience, I discovered that I had a fear of failure for various reasons. In my experience and through my recovery process I discovered that there were various factors (balls) that contributed to and kept me tethered to a fear of failure.
What I discovered gave me the ability to progressively let go of the ball (s) that kept me tethered to the fear of failure.
I discovered that perfectionism was at the root of what kept me tethered to a fear of failure. Through my recovery process, I discovered that various factors held me hostage to the belief that I needed to be perfect. I discovered that, as a result; I strove all the more to be perfect for various reasons. I discovered what fueled my need to be perfect, the belief that my best efforts were inadequate. Nevertheless, I strove all the more; only to again find that the proverbial bar of expectation had been either raised or moved. The impact of the bar repeatedly being moved and / or raised left me feeling shamed and discouraged for not being enough.
In response, I became angry and frustrated. I turned that anger and frustration in ward. In response, I experienced ongoing chronic depression.”
