Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am delighted to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. I hope you know that you are always welcome around my table my friend. Several weeks ago I approached one of the leaders in the church that I have been attending to ask if there was anything that I could do to help out around the church. I wanted to be able to give back to the church in a way that I am able give because my funds are limited — because I am living on a fixed income.
Last Friday evening the leader who I spoke to a week before told me that he had a project for me to do around the church. I was happy to hear that I could do something to give back to the church. There is a chain link fence that runs around the back of the churches property — a span of about 120 feet or so. Over the course of many years a vine system had intricately woven itself around and through out the system of the chain link fence — through and around each of its links.
The project that was give to me was to rid the fence of the vines. I was happy to be able to give back to the church but overwhelmed by the density of the vines as they appeared to span the entire chain link fence.
Last Saturday I decided to start on the project of removing the vines from the fence. After examining the system of vines that spanned the fence I decided to go to the local hard ware store and buy some pruning sheers and some gloves. After picking up the supplies I went back to the church and began working on the fence. I worked diligently to remove the vines and their tentacles from the fence however after 2 1/2 hours I stepped back to look at my progress. It was at that time that I realized that I had only made small dent in the goal of removing the vines from the fence. Consequently, I started to feel overwhelmed by the seeming immensity of the vine system that needed to be removed from the fence.
