Second Chance to Live

Empowering the Individual, Not the Brain Injury

Traumatic Brain Injury and Affirmations

June 4, 2007 By Second Chance to Live

Hi Friends. I am glad you are apart of my world. You are a gift to me. I will share something with you that I am wrestling with today. I have been wrestling with myself. I have been wrestling with myself because I have allowed myself to listen to the voice of negativity and doubt. I have been buying into the lie of lack. I have listened to the false belief that I am my limitation. To be honest with you I have been turning on myself because I allowed myself to believe that I should be someone other than who I am. I allowed myself to buy into other peoples value systems. Because I traded my awareness for ignorance, I believed I was inadequate. When I was unable to over ride the ignorance I internalized the discrepancy (please read my post, Second Chance to Live—Traumatic Brain Injury). As I internalized the discrepancy, I shamed myself for not being enough. Unconsciously, I began to feel as though I was unlovable.

When I realized what I was doing to myself, I began to nurture my reality. I proceeded to affirm my worth and value to myself. I am much more than enough. I am perfectly me. I have all that I need. I am learning as I go. I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me. I rise above my circumstances. I am being delivered from shame and doubt. I do not have to buy into anyone’s ignorance. I own my truth. I am diligent to learn from all my opportunities. I have hope. I am not discouraged. I am expectant. I use my limitations to my benefit. I am not under my circumstances, but I feed on my circumstances. I learn from and I am vaulted into success by my circumstances. I am encouraged because I am being led to green pastures and besides quiet waters and I am refreshed. I build upon all that comes into my life. I am a miracle. I am a gift to my world. I am more than adequate in all my endeavors. I am receiving all the wisdom I need, just for today. I know my truth. I trust in the process. I am wonderfully me.

So when you find your self being challenged by negative messages, declare your reality boldly.

I would encourage you to make a list of very personal affirmations and use them to encourage yourself. As you tell yourself your reality, you will find renewed courage and hope. These are some of the affirmations that you can tell yourself: I am not a mistake. I find satisfaction in all my endeavors. I am not my limitation or disability. I do not have to carry anyone’s expectation of me. I am doing the best I can for today. I do not have to be more than I am today. I own my truth. I celebrate the progress that I am making. I pursue excellence. I am willing to learn from my circumstances. I will not hold anyone hostage, nor will I allow anyone to hold me hostage by their ignorance. I will not own another person’s fear or doubt. I am free to be me. I am lovable just because I am. I am empowered. I am encouraged. I have hope. I am a work in process. I am a miracle. I am a gift to my world.

As I tell myself, be encouraged my friends. The best is yet to come!
