I began using the principles of neuroplasticity, in 1997, before I ever heard of the word neuroplasticity. In preparation of a keynote presentation,16 years after I started my journey in neuroplasticity, a friend taped a demonstration.
A demonstration of the progress that I had made using the principles of neuroplasticity during 16 years. Since 2013, different friends have helped to tape the progress that I made using the principles of neuroplasticity.
See Progress made through repetitive mirrored movements during. 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Because of a shoulder injury and Covid-19 I was not able to record in 2019 and 2020. Then in 2021, 2022, and 2024.
Healthy neurons reach out and connect with damaged neurons in the brain through repetitive mirrored movements (through the corpus callosom) to create new neural pathways and brain reorganization.
Background
I sustained an open skull fracture, in a car accident, with right frontal lobe damage, a severe brain bruise with brain stem involvement. I remained in a coma for 3 weeks. This occurred in 1967 at 10 years old .
I have been training, drilling and using a variety of martial art disciplines to create new neural pathways and brain reorganization (functional neuroplasticity). I continue to do so, now in my 27th year, soon to be 67.
I obtained a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Kentucky in 1990.
