Second Chance to Live

Empowering the Individual, Not the Brain Injury

Living with a Brain Injury? You’re Not Alone—And Not Done Yet

“Living with a Brain Injury? You’re Not Alone—And Not Done Yet” — a message of encouragement from Second Chance to Live

Living with a Brain Injury? You’re Not Alone—And Not Done Yet

Living with a brain injury can feel like walking a road no one else sees. If you’ve ever wondered, “Why is this still hard?” If you’ve felt left behind in your recovery—while the world around you has moved on—you’re not alone.

I know that feeling. I live with the long-term effects of a traumatic brain injury I sustained at age 10. That injury changed the course of my life, but it didn’t end it. What I’ve learned since then is that healing doesn’t happen on a timeline—and it doesn’t stop just because others think it should.

Second Chance to Live Was Created for You

In 2007, I created Second Chance to Live as a way to encourage, educate, and walk alongside people who are still on their own healing path. It’s not just a blog—it’s a platform for people living with the ongoing effects of brain injury, invisible disability, and trauma.

Since then, Second Chance to Live has grown into:

  • Over 2,200 recovery-focused articles
  • More than 460 video presentations
  • 30 keynote and peer support discussions
  • 19 eBooks written from lived experience
  • 44 illustrated inspirational posters

These resources exist to remind you: you’re not weak for still healing. You’re strong for continuing the journey.

This Work Is For the One Still Struggling

If you’ve ever felt like your struggles are unseen…
If you’ve been told to “get over it”…
If your pain doesn’t fit someone else’s recovery timeline…

Then this is for you.

Second Chance to Live is here to honor your courage. To say the things others might not understand. To offer hope—not in quick fixes, but in steady, compassionate presence.

Why Long-Term Encouragement Matters

Recovery is not a straight line. And it’s not something we finish and file away. It’s a process. A journey. A way of life. And that journey deserves to be supported, seen, and celebrated.

Second Chance to Live is here for:

  • The days when you’re tired of explaining.
  • The nights when you wonder if you’re making progress.
  • The moments when hope feels out of reach.

You’re not broken. You’re rebuilding. At your own pace—and that is enough.

You’re Not Behind. You’re Becoming.

If no one’s told you this today: you don’t have to be fixed to be worthy. You don’t need to be understood by everyone to keep going. Your path is valid—even when it’s invisible to others.

Second Chance to Live isn’t just a platform. It’s a light on the road. A companion for the journey. A reminder that healing is still possible—even when it’s quiet, slow, or unseen.

You’re Not Alone—And You’re Not Done Yet

If something in these words speaks to your heart, I invite you to walk with me. Explore the resources. Watch a video. Share this with someone who needs to hear it.

You are not alone.
You are not behind.
You are not finished.

This is your second chance. And I’m honored to be walking with you.

“Call to Action”

If this article encouraged you, please share it with someone on the journey. You’re not alone—and neither are they.
