Living with a Brain Injury? You’re Not Alone—And Not Done Yet

Living with a brain injury can feel like walking a road no one else sees. If you’ve ever wondered, “Why is this still hard?” If you’ve felt left behind in your recovery—while the world around you has moved on—you’re not alone.

I know that feeling. I live with the long-term effects of a traumatic brain injury I sustained at age 10. That injury changed the course of my life, but it didn’t end it. What I’ve learned since then is that healing doesn’t happen on a timeline—and it doesn’t stop just because others think it should.

Second Chance to Live Was Created for You

In 2007, I created Second Chance to Live as a way to encourage, educate, and walk alongside people who are still on their own healing path. It’s not just a blog—it’s a platform for people living with the ongoing effects of brain injury, invisible disability, and trauma.

Since then, Second Chance to Live has grown into:

  • Over 2,200 recovery-focused articles
  • More than 460 video presentations
  • 30 keynote and peer support discussions
  • 19 eBooks written from lived experience
  • 44 illustrated inspirational posters

These resources exist to remind you: you’re not weak for still healing. You’re strong for continuing the journey.

Recovery is not a straight line. And it’s not something we finish and file away. It’s a process. A journey. A way of life. And that journey deserves to be supported, seen, and celebrated.
