Note: From what I understand, a url is the actual address that search engines assigns to each article that is written and published on the world-wide web to help locate the article or whatever has been published. This article is written to share what I learned that helped me to change incorrectly assigned url’s.
Several weeks ago I noticed that I started to have some discrepancies with the title of my articles and the actual url that appeared in the address bar. In some instances the url did not include the complete article title or gave a derivation of the article. Some times no words would be included in the url, only numbers. Realizing that there was a discrepancy in the actual article title and the url gave me concern.
For some reason recent articles on both Second Chance to Live and Create a Spark of Hope had discrepancies in the article titles and url’s that needed to be edited. I am thankful for my friend pointing out to me how I could edit each of the articles url’s for them to match my actual article title.
This concern motivated me to engage in a series of trouble shooting. I engaged Norton staff to work their magic through remote sessions, contacted GoDaddy, WordPress.org and a friend; who has been very kind to me in the process of setting up and running my websites. He told me that I may never know what caused the glitches in the urls, but told me that there is a way to change the articles url, although my articles have been published with the incorrect url. He showed me how I could edit these urls so that they would match the article titles that I have published on my website(s).
What I did to change or edit the url’s of articles:
I am currently using managed wordpress to write articles for my 2 websites. Once I published an article and the article appears on my home page, I look above to see if the url (in the address bar). If the url is not consistent with the title of the article that I published — that appears on my home page — I can then click on the edit post. By doing so I am able to change text of the url. Below is an example of before and after completing the process. By removing the incorrect url and replacing that with your full title, upon updating the article; you will be able to see that the title and the url matches.
Once you click on Edit post, the page will open showing your article title. Below your article title you will see:

Click on Edit and the portion of the permalink that you want to change, after your website name and date; delete whatever may be there…a series of numbers or part of your title. After deleting those #’s or incomplete title, type in your article title. After completing these steps, click on UPDATE.
Once you have edited your url using the above process, and updated your article view the article on your home page. Click on article title and look above at the address bar. By doing so you will see that the url, as seen in the below example; has changed to match your complete article title.
Example:
Article Title: It’s Never too Late to Create Hope

After: https://secondchancetolive.org/2015/12/11/its-never-too-late-to-create-hope/
By editing the url, so that the title of your article and the url match; you will assist the search engines ability to find your article(s). By matching the article (s) title with the url (s) in your address bar, you will aid in SEO (search engine optimization) and assist your readers in the finding your articles.
