Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. Recently my Mom sent me a video clip. I am glad that she did and that I took the time to watch the video clip. As I watched the video clip I was reminded that what some people may complain about or consider to be a nuisance or a bother may in fact, turn out to be a tremendous gift and blessing in disguise.
In this video clip we see a man and a dog. Not an ordinary man and not an ordinary dog. David Hardwig and Skidboot. In this video clip we are introduced to David – a Shoer of horses – and Skidboot — a playful and rambunctious dog. As we watch the presentation, we see how God used David’s way with horses – his gift, talent and ability – to harness Skidboot’s personality, gifts, talents and abilities. As a results, many doors opened for both Skidboot and David.
As I watched the video presentation, several lessons stood out to me. In life, there will always be 2 sets of eyes and 2 sets of perspectives – like David’s neighbors and like David himself. How I allow those 2 sets of eyes and 2 sets of perspectives to impact and influence my life is critical. Will I allow the way that some people may perceive me — as a nuisance or a bother – dissuade me from using my gifts, talents and abilities or will I stay strong to follow my mission.
Another lesson – and maybe the more important lesson – was that David did not allow the annoyance of his neighbors to get in the way of his heart. Instead, David looked for and in the process was able to direct Skidboot’s personality, gifts, talents and abilities in such a way — to in turn — be a blessing to many people, including both Skidboot and himself. By following his heart, David used his gifts to empower Skidboot, which led to him being blessed beyond his imagination.
As you watch the presentation, may you also be encouraged to follow your heart. May you be encouraged to pursue your gifts, talents and abilities, regardless of whether you may have people in your life who consider you to be a nuisance or a bother. May you be encouraged and empowered to follow your heart and to see yourself as David saw Skidboot, as a gift and a blessing. And as you follow your heart, may you be a blessing and in the process be blessed beyond your imagination. May new doors open up for you and may you find that your crooked places have been made straight.
