Welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. You may be saying to yourself, “Painting your Portrait {aka} This is Not a Dress Rehearsal” sounds like a mystery novel made into a movie. However, I am not talking about something made in Hollywood. Look a little closer. That is right. I am talking about your and my life. Our lives are precious. Precious, because we can have an active part in our lives, regardless of what may have happened to or in our lives. Nevertheless, because of our lot in life we may feel helpless and hopeless.
“Regardless of your lot in life, you can build something beautiful on it.” Zig Ziglar
You may have found yourself saying to yourself or to other people, “You don’t know what I have to…” or “You don’t know how I…” or “If you only knew I …” To be honest with you, I have made similar statements during my life time. My challenge was to stop seeing myself as a victim of my circumstances and start seeing my circumstances in a different light. Instead of seeing my circumstances as gauntlets to be endured, I started to see my circumstances as vehicles given to me to empower my process. Instead of seeing myself as helpless, I began to see myself as an empower being.
“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do something that I can do.” Helen Keller
Through my experience, I discovered what I needed to do was stop making excuses and begin living my life on life’s terms. I discovered that I needed to stop making excuses because of the “what”, “how” and “only” (ies) that occur in my life. I am not saying that I do this perfectly, but with my awareness I am able to remember that when I start to use “what”, “how” and “only” as a reason to not live my life, I can use my power to chose. I can chose to make a brand new start and I can chose to do something that I can do with what has been given to me. I can chose to build something beautiful on my lot in life.
“No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.” Author Unknown
