Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. I am always happy to see you when you decide to stop by to visit with me. Please remember, you are always welcome around my table. Through my recovery process I discovered a very valuable lesson. The lesson has encouraged, motivated and empowered me to live life on life’s terms and has improved and promoted my quality of life.
For many years I viewed my circumstances as a punitive recourse for not being perfect. Rather than believing that I was to benefit from my circumstances, I saw them as a gauntlet of events that showed up to test me. Tests to be endured. Consequently, for many years I experienced discouragement, despondency and depression because my circumstances looked forboading and ominous. In many regards I felt helpless to do anything other than watch as one dark cloud after another rolled into my life.
I continued to feel like a victim of my circumstances until one day — several years ago — when I had a spiritual awakening.
After someone shared the concept of silver linings with me I began to look for silver linings. With my awaress of silver linings came another spiritual awakening. My spiritual awakening revealed that — coincidentally — my “circumstances or dark clouds” seemed to appear around the same time as did the silver linings. As I considered my awareness, I had deeper spiritual awakenings.
Silver linings only appear amidst “dark clouds”. Silver linings only exist in dark clouds. Silver linings are revealed though dark clouds.
With my spirtual awakening I began to fathom the significance of my circumstances and dark clouds. Dark clouds were meant to expand my capacity to see the clarity of silver lining. With out dark clouds I could not see the silver linings. Dark clouds provide the proverbial back drop that illuminates the presence of silver linings. With my awareness, I began to grasp the significance of the lesson. Circumstances and dark clouds are the forerunners of hope.
Today’s Thought
With my awareness I began to comprehend the significance of my circumstances — which I once viewed as dark clouds. Circumstances exist to give me hope and to point me in the direction of my destiny. With my awareness I am empowered by choice. Consequently, when circumstances occur in my life — that appear to be dark clouds — I can choose to look for the silver lining. In the process, I can find hope.
