Today’s thought
In life you may find your self in a funk. Your funk — like mine was — may be draining your enthusiasm and motivation. Consequently, you may see no answer in sight. Let me encourage you with this my friend. Do what I did and exercise. You do not have do do more than you can, but a little will change your perspective.
Start out slow and build up. Be creative and ask for help.
I am so glad that I took my Sensei’s suggestion, even though in the past the pool and swimming seemed boring to me. I am glad that I also asked the life guards for some suggestions when I got to the pool. I am so happy that I followed those suggestions, because after an hour work out in the pool I felt like a new man.
My attitude and my mental out look changed and I was able to let go and again trust the process.
If you are new to exercising or your disability has changed the way you used to exercise ask you case manager or the staff at the local YMCA to help you. You may say, I do not have much money. Well I have very good news for you. You can still work out the YMCA. As some one suggested to me several years ago, go to the YMCA and ask about their financial assistance. I did so about 9 years ago and have been able to work out at the Y. The Y will work with you so you can work out at the YMCA.
Like me, you may be able to benefit from the Y’s financial assistance program. You may not have to pay much for a monthly membership. Call or go by the YMCA in your area and ask them about how you can apply for their financial assistance program. I believe you will be happy you did so my friend.
By beginning to exercise or through increasing the time and intensity you exercise I believe you will begin to experience a whole new outlook on life. And what’s more is that you do not have to figure out an exercise program for your self. You can ask for help. The Y’s trainers trainers and acquatic staff will be more than willing to help you.
If you can not get to the Y ask your case manager to connect you with someone who can set up and guide you in your exercise program.
Be encouraged my friend because you don’t have to stay in a funk.
