Second Chance to Live

Empowering the Individual, Not the Brain Injury

Second Chance to Live — My Journey thus Far Part 9

January 13, 2016 By Second Chance to Live

Consider-Possibilities

For an update on what has occurred on my journey thus far since with writing of Part 9, please click on this link.

Second Chance to Live 16th Anniversary and A Guide to Navigating the Resources

If you have not already read Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 7, Part 8, and Part 10 of this series, please do so to understand the context of Part 7. Thank you.

I created Second Chance to Live on February 6, 2007. Shortly after creating Second Chance to Live I started a series to share my process and my journey with my readers. Over time, I have added to the article series. Below are links to each part of the article. I would invite you to read each Part of the series, in addition to reading Part 9 of the series, which is below the highlighted links to the article series.

Second Chance to Live — My Journey thus Far: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8 and Part 10

In Part 8 of this series, which I wrote on March 6, 2015; I shared that I did not know where my journey with Second Chance to Live would take me.

In Part 9 of this series, I would like to share with you what my process and journey has revealed to me during the past 9 years.

I will share the developments of the past 9 years in bullet-form. I share these developments to encourage you to keep moving in your process and on your journey. Stay committed to your course and keep running your race. As I had no idea where Second Chance to Live would lead, as shared in Part 8 of this series; you may be questioning where your journey is taking you. My encouragement to you, as I need to remember; is to stay in the game. Keep moving and don’t give up. More will be revealed in time to you and to me. The dots will connect forward and more will be made clear.

During the past 9 months:

  • I finished and published 5 eBooks for Second Chance to Live.
  • I launched a second website on June 15, 2015 — Created a Spark of Hope. I have since written and published 52 articles for Create a Spark of Hope.
  • A friend helped me to move my websites, Second Chance to Live and Create a Spark of Hope; to managed WordPress websites in July of 2015. He mentored and showed me how to perform a lot of administrative duties to set up my websites on new themes, to provide mobile access.
  • I converted 200-300 categories to tags, created 12 new categories and assigned 1 category for each of my 1430+ articles. As you can imagine this was a very tedious and meticulous process.
  • I then set up the theme layouts for Second Chance to Live and Create a Spark of Hope.
  • I worked on creating new menu items and new categories items for Second Chance to Live and Create a Spark of Hope.
  • I added pictures to many of my articles using Libre Stock, (search the best 41 free stock photo websites in one place) to match the content of the articles that I wrote for Second Chance to Live and Create a Spark of Hope.
  • I created new book covers for my 5 eBooks for Second Chance to Live, by using a free program paint.net; through watching many youtube video presentations and by trial and error.
  • I wrote and published an eBook for Create a Spark of Hope.
  • I created and designed a book cover for my Create a Spark of Hope eBook.
  • I created and designed a new business card.
  • Create a Spark of Hope business Card
  • I added a tool to both of my websites to aid in the downloading of my eBooks, by using a plug-in Easy Digital Downloads. through watching many youtube video presentations and by trial and error.
  • I created an article with download instructions for the series of my eBooks on Second Chance to Live — Winning with Brain Injury  and for my eBook on Create a Spark of Hope  — How to Create Hope.
  • I added my eBook covers and download links to my eBooks in the right sidebars of both Second Chance to Live and Create a Spark of Hope.
  • I have continued to write and publish articles for Second Chance to Live and Create a Spark of Hope.
  • I have continued to train and drill using the principle of neuroplasticity. Consequently, I continue to see marked improvements. In August 2015 a friend captured some of the gains that I have made through my use of modern arnis (my style) using double sticks or sinawali drills.
  • I continue to train with double sticks. I do so to incorporate the gross and fine motor skills learned through endless repetitions. I do so to improve open hand techniques in my dominant and non-dominant hand, as well as both my dominant and non-dominant sides of my body.
  • I continue to train and drill in other martial art disciplines to increase my hand-eye coordination, precision, speed, agility, body awareness using large and small muscle groups. I do so to be able to increase my gross and fine motor skills. I continue to train through endless repetitions to enhance my physical capacity to create symmetrically, using both sides of my body.
  • I continue to play online solitaire to increase my hand-eye coordination, recognition, and speed.
  • I continue to develop my conscious contact with a loving God. I continue to look for ways to be of service to Him. I continue to look for ways to be of service to the individuals that He brings into my life.
  • I continue to grow in awareness, acceptance, and action.
  • I continue to encourage people to recover in a holistic manner — in their mind, body, and spirit — as I continue to recover in a holistic manner — in my mind, body, and spirit.
  • I continue to encourage my readers to not give up. The pieces of the puzzle will come together at the right time and in the right order. See my article Traumatic Brain Injury and Pursuing Our Dreams and Destinies by clicking on this link: Traumatic Brain Injury and Pursuing Our Dreams and Destinies.
  • I continue to encourage the creation of hope, through persistence, tenacity, and commitment. See my 2 part article, How to Be Successful in a Training Camp by clicking on these links: Defining the Basics of a Successful Training Camp Part 1 and Defining the Basics of a Successful Training Camp Part 2
  • I continue to be available to be of service through Second Chance to Live and Create a Spark of Hope. In the event that you would like to have me give a keynote presentation or lead a workshop at your event or upcoming conference, please contact me.
