Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. The month of March is designated as brain injury awareness month. Brain injury awareness is – in my opinion – for both individuals who do not know about how brain injuries impact individual’s lives and for individuals whose lives have been impacted by brain injuries. Such awareness – in my opinion – needs to result in change.
In my experience, I have found that for change to occur – once an individual has gained awareness – the individual needs to move from awareness to acceptance. Once the individual has gained acceptance — of their reality — they can take steps to empower themselves in their realities. In my experience, I found I needed to grieve the losses associated with the impact of my traumatic / acquired brain injury.
In my experience, I needed to move beyond my awareness – through grieving the losses associated with my impact of my traumatic / acquired brain injury — before I could get into action to be empowered.
