Second Chance to Live

Empowering the Individual, Not the Brain Injury

Traumatic Brain Injury and Ripples

September 14, 2007 By Second Chance to Live

Hi and welcome back to a place that invites your presence. You are a gift to me my friend. Thank you for including me in your day. You are always welcome at my table. Several years ago I wrote a series of poems. Poetry has been a part of my evolutionary process as a writer. I do not claim to be a note worthy poet, however I want to share one of those poems with you.

Passion drawn

Standing by the pond of life
I skip a rock across the surface
And as it settles, ripples emanate
From where the rock descends

Below the surface, no longer interrupted
Falling beneath the starting point
Of that ripple, as it echoes forward
Circumstantially touching with impact

Surging forth, declaring exuberantly
It will be, and the ripple of life
Continues to call forth to me
Throw another rock and see

What will be unless, you see
Another rock please
So that it may be, exactly
A part of me, passionately

You and I are like a rock that skips across the surface of life. As we use chose to learn from our circumstances our creative energy is released and set in motion. Our unique creative energy sends ripples across the pond of life. As we chose to be empowered through our circumstances and experiences, we participate in a healing process.

What appears to be mundane becomes the cornerstone of healing. Our gifts, talents and abilities become a beacon of hope to the faint hearted. Our lives are used to give strength to the weary. Although our creative energy may appear to fall beneath the surface of the pond –at times –the ripples of our being continue to bring healing and comfort. Although our presence may not be noticed – as the rock that falls beneath the surface – the ripples of our presence continues to reach out and touch the lives of those in our world.

We do not have to be more than we are today. What appears to be insignificant may very well be the answer to someone’s prayers. As we decide to trust the process, a loving God and ourselves we can let go of the outcomes from the ripples of our essence. Be encouraged my friend and throw another rock. Your presence and participation is requested. Bring who you are to the table of life.

Today’s thought

You and I may never know the positive impact our lives are having upon those in our world. Although we may not believe that our lives are creating significant ripples, they are my friends. Our presence is essential and our creativity mandated. The ripples produced by our being may touch one person, who will in turn profoundly influence the lives of millions. To you and I our presence may be as a ship passing in the night, but to some our presence may be the beacon of hope that leads their ship back into open waters. Our presence may motivate a once docked ship to set sail. Be encouraged my friend because you are a gift to your world.

You have described one of my core beliefs, in a profound and satisfying way. I wrote a less insightful post about this concept, but you still might like to read it here:
