Welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I want to revisit a reality that I presented several months ago. I believe the content of this reality is paramount to living an empowered life. I believe what makes you and I unique and sets us apart from other creatures are that we have a body, a soul and a spirit. Our bodies provide the vehicle that enables our presence to be known. We each have a soul that defines who we are on the inside (our mind, will and intellect) that enables our creative capacity and our ability to be of service to God and to our fellow. Our spirits enable our ability transcend what our body and soul can not comprehend.
After you and I are born, we go through different stages, toddler, child, adolescence, pre-teens, teenagers, and young-adults. During these formative years we invariably scrape our knees in various ways. Inevitably, when we scrape our knees in a physical, emotional or spiritual manner scaring occurs. Over time and depending upon the significance and frequency of our “knees” being scraped various scarring occurs to cover the wound. With time the scar tissue may develop into a callus and become hardened in order to shield and protect the area from being wounded again. The hardening process or scarring may interfere with further growth and development. Unresolved emotional, spiritual and physical wounds can develop into resentments and bitterness. Sometimes these wounds can be suppressed or even repressed under a cloud of denial (Please read my post, Triggers). Although the wounds may be minimized and even disregarded, like an infection that goes untreated, the wound will lead to further complications. In both my personal and professional experience, I have watched untreated spiritual, emotional, and physical wounds create blocks. Emotional, spiritual and physical blocks work to effectively keep the individual distracted.
For any wound to heal we must first become aware that we have been wounded. The second step in the healing process is to accept that the wound has effectively created a debilitating problem. Finally, we need to take the necessary action to begin to heal the wound. Different types of wounds require different types of treatment. I have found that denying that the wound exists will not keep the wound from impeding my creative uniqueness. Denial instead creates the conditions that allow the wound to continue to fester. Being wounded does not mean that you or I did something wrong. In reality we have more than likely been wounded by other wounded people during our lifetime. Realizing that we have been wounded empowers you and I to take the necessary steps to help the wound heal. Essentially this means that we need to be honest, open and willing to do whatever it takes to heal the wound.
With in Second Chance to Live, I introduce different types of treatments for different types of wounds. These treatments have helped me to overcome significant obstacles throughout my lifetime. I have found that in order for me to be effectively me, I needed and need to face, confront and participate in my healing process. As I am proactive rather than reactive, I fulfill my destiny one-day at a time. My hope is that as you read material on Second Chance to Live, you will be inspired to face, confront and then take the necessary steps to address your emotional, spiritual and physical blocks. Only you can make the decision to be your own hero. Only you can commit yourself to a life worth living. Only you can decide to do the necessary work to remove the calluses that block and hinder your creative energy.
Today’s Thought:
I make a decision to commit myself to the process of identifying, understanding and taking the necessary action to remove that which blocks my creative energy. I may not do it perfectly, but I determine to stay in the process. I realize that if nothing changes, it will remain the same. I will be diligent to be honest, open and willing to have my wounds heal. I will look closely and address whatever is blocking my process. I will stay focused. I will not lag behind in this process, one day at a time.
