Core Principle of This Work
The Second Chance to Live Trauma-Informed Care AI Collaboration Model™ is grounded in the alignment of intention, energy, and focus that creates lasting impact.
This principle is not abstract — it is recognized across multiple fields of science:
-
In physics, as energy directed with efficiency.
-
In neuroscience, as neuroplastic change through focused repetition.
-
In psychology, as flow states of deep absorption.
-
In biology, as coherence between mind and body systems.
-
In engineering, as maximizing signal over noise.
This convergence is the life force behind my work. My energy gives the model integrity, direction, and purpose. Without this alignment of intention, focus, and energy, any attempt to replicate the model becomes hollow.

Legacy Archive – Applied Neuroplasticity, Martial Arts, and Mirrored Movement
Introduction
Welcome to the Second Chance to Live Legacy Archive.
This archive shares my lived journey applying neuroplasticity, mirrored movement, and martial arts disciplines to create new neural pathways and reorganize my brain after a traumatic brain injury.
My hope is that these demonstrations and writings will serve as resources for individuals living with brain injuries, professionals seeking practical integration strategies, and future generations continuing this work.
2. My Martial Arts Philosophy and Lineage
In my martial arts and brain injury recovery journey, I have embraced the philosophy of Bruce Lee, as taught through my martial arts instructors. Their lineage traces back to Sigung Richard Bustillo, one of Bruce Lee’s original students.
Bruce Lee’s words continue to guide me:
“Research your own experience. Absorb what is useful, reject what is useless, add what is essentially your own.” – Bruce Lee
Achieving My Brown Belt in International Martial Arts and Boxing after my Brain Injury
This has been the foundation of my life:
✅ Researching my own experience of living with a traumatic brain injury
✅ Absorbing what was useful from martial arts, rehabilitation, and neuroplasticity
✅ Rejecting what was useless or limiting to my progress
✅ Adding what is essentially my own, creating a lifelong process to build new neural pathways and reorganize my brain, body, and life
I also encourage everyone I meet with these words from Albert Einstein:
“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
We each have our own genius, and my hope is that this archive will help you discover yours.
3. Why I Created This Archive
Over the years, I have seen how academic and medical systems often emphasize research over lived application. This archive is not about self-promotion.
Is the Medical Model of Treatment Defining and Keeping You in a “Box”?
It is about preserving and stewarding what I have learned and practiced for over five decades – informed by martial arts philosophy, neuroplasticity, and lived brain injury recovery.
My hope is that others can build upon this work, knowing its origins are rooted in lived experience, discipline, and hope.
4. Demonstrations
How to View
I have created a dedicated page showcasing my demonstrations by year.
➡️ Please visit my demonstrations page here:
How I Use Neuroplasticity & Mirrored Movement
Each demonstration reflects my ongoing journey applying neuroplasticity and martial arts disciplines to build skills, confidence, and connection between my brain and body.
5. Attribution and Use
All demonstrations and writings in this archive are the original work of Craig J. Phillips, MRC, BA, founder of Second Chance to Live.
They are shared to encourage recovery, adaptation, and hope. Attribution is required for any sharing, referencing, or integration of this material into external programs, presentations, publications, or educational resources.

6. Trauma-Informed Care and My Legacy
Over the years, I have come to understand that recovery is more than physical rehabilitation or mental adaptation. It also requires healing the wounds of trauma with dignity, choice, safety, and compassion.
Trauma-informed care is not just a concept for professionals; it is a lived reality for many of us navigating brain injury recovery. My legacy includes advocating for and applying trauma-informed principles to empower others on their journeys.
My hope is that this archive will serve not only as a record of neuroplasticity and martial arts recovery but also as a testament to the importance of trauma-informed care in creating safe spaces for healing, hope, and purpose.
7. Looking Ahead – AI, Empathy, and Recovery
As technology continues to shape our world, I have begun advocating for trauma-informed and empathy-informed approaches in artificial intelligence development.
My hope is that lived experiences like mine will help create tools, systems, and supports that honor human dignity, healing, and purpose – ensuring AI serves people with compassion and understanding.
