Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. Recently, our nation and even the world has been drawn by the incident that occurred in Tucson, Arizona. In a matter of minutes the lives of 20 + people lives were forever altered by the senseless act of Jared Loughner. Among the slain and wounded was Rep. Gabrielle Giffords who sustained a traumatic brain injury as a bullet entered the back of her head.
Amidst the rhetoric and finger-pointing the reality remains the same, Rep. Giffords life has been forever changed. So have the lives of her family and friend as they relate to her. Although her physical wounds may heal and no longer be evident – in the weeks and months to come – the aftermath of the actions of Jared Loughner will continue to echo through both her life and the lives of her family and friends. To her family and friends I would invite you to read several of my articles and series.
As an individual who has lived with a traumatic brain injury and an invisible disability for 43 years I share from my experience, strength and hope and from the power of identification. As you read through the articles, I believe my perspective will be both insightful and empowering to you and to Gabrielle. As you have questions, please feel free to ask. All questions are good questions. Here is a link to my Contact page, where you may leave a comment or a confidential email. I will respond to you promptly.
