I wanted to give you an update on the TED TALK. I found out that there is a nomination process and filled out the information and forwarded that complete form to the selection committee.
56 Years After My Traumatic Brain Injury and What I Would Have Liked to Have Known
I also created a presentation of my proposed TED talk. In the event that you believe what I have to share would be excellent for a TED talk, please let them know. Here is a link: speaker nomination form.
I will be 67 years old May 2024. Over the past 26 years I have been using different martial art disciplines to develop my brain-body connection.
Using repetitive mirrored movements (crossing the center line) to create new neural pathways and brain reorganization. (Neuroplasticity).
Using repetitive mirrored movements has given me the ability to accomplish what I never dreamed possible. I use a combination of western boxing, muay Thai, kali, jeet kune do and several other styles to expand.
The below presentation was made on Saturday, March 16, 2024
My drilling and training in repetitive mirrored movement, across the center line, has engaged both the right and left brain hemispheres of my brain through the Corpus Callosum. Doing so has given me the ability to increase my brain-body connections and improve my balance, over all coordination.
My hand-eye coordination, foot-eye coordination, my body awareness, focus, agility, gross and fine motor coordination, spatial orientation, precision, intention, flow and reaction time. The application of these drills and skills has improved my abilities far beyond training in different martial arts and boxing.
An Invitation to You
In my experience developing skills and abilities through expanding my brain-body connections has taken a bazillion drills over 26 years. I share this with you to encourage you to not give up on the process of developing new skill and abilities. As I have needed, learn one skill at time, one skill set at a time.
And Don’t Compare Yourself to Anyone as you Build your Brain-Body Connection.
I would also encourage you to develop and engage in your own program to increase your brain-body connection. Start out slow, but start. Combine skills and skill sets together, one skill and one skill set at a time. And don’t give up on your process. And Remember: Slow and Steady wins the race.
