Last week I wrote an article. I have been working on several projects and have not gotten a chance to make a video presentation of that article until now. Below is a brief excerpt from the article:
“This morning, during my meditation and reflection I thought about some thing that I would like to share with you. Interesting how memories can be triggered and the feelings associated with those memories. So this is what I want to share with you. Several years ago after attending a weekly support meeting, I found myself being incensed at a woman in the meeting. We had a good rapport, however I was feeling some animosity toward her.
I had been experiencing this uneasiness for several weeks. Initially, I could not put my finger on why I felt this animosity, as she and I had a good rapport. However upon further reflection, I had a spiritual awakening. Realizing that my reactions to present events and people are often connected to past events, I sat with my uneasy feelings for several weeks and continued to examine why I found myself reacting.
I said nothing to the individual and continued to be kind to her. By reflecting and sitting with my feelings, for several weeks; it began to dawn on me that my reaction to the woman in the meeting had little to do with her. Instead, my interactions with her gave me the gift to be at peace with myself and other people.
By examining my feelings, meditating, writing and speaking with my mentor I discovered why I felt animosity toward the woman in the meeting. As I reflected upon why I was felt this animosity toward the woman in the meeting, it dawned on me that her geographical accent reminded me of my x fiance’s geographical accent.”
If I am being triggered and react to present day events or people, more than likely this is an indication that I have not resolved irritability, restlessness and discontent from my past. Having peace in my life occurs by making peace with my past so that my past does not spoil my present.
