Second Chance to Live, Thoughts and Quotes to Inspire

Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. Today, I would like to share some thoughts with you, with quotes that inspire me. As you read this article, may you too be encouraged and inspired to be fully you, to live the life that you have imagined, to follow your dreams and to live your destiny one day at a time my friend.

I am a traumatic brain injury survivor, but I am not my brain injury. Society may put me in a box through stigmatization, but I do not have to live in that box. People may want to dismiss, discount, minimize and marginalize who I am, but I do not have to be limited by short sightedness. Instead, I am free to fly like a bird out of a cage that has been opened for me by my acceptance of who I am as a uniquely qualified  individual.

“Insist on yourself, never imitate. Your own gift you can present every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another, you have only an extemporaneous half-possession…Do that which is assigned to you, and you cannot hope too much or dare too much.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

In life people may scoff at me because I am different, but I can celebrate who I am as an individual. People may say that it can not be done, but I can persist and find a way that will work for me. People may hurl insults at me, slander and seek to malign who I am as an individual. I can et them believe what they want to believe,  and keep creating with my being. I no longer need to be fettered by bias or a contempt prior to investigation.

“Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.” Steve Jobs

As I pursue that which I consider to be important, I no longer need to have my dreams validated by other people. Instead, I can stay committed to my mission and my vision, because I know that success is inevitable. Society may not take me seriously, people may not see my value, but that does not have to keep me from believing in my destiny. I can keep moving in the direction, application and intention to fulfill my destiny.

“If you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams and endeavor to live the life that you have imagined…you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” Henry David Thoreau

And what is more, I do not have to go along to get along. I can dance to the beat of my own drum. I can follow my truth. I can pursue innovation, regardless of whether anyone else grasps what I see as important. I can be a forerunner.  I can encourage my brothers and sisters to look for solutions, although there may be some who would seek to drown out my voice. I can be the change that I want to see to see in the world.

“Seek out that particular mental attribute which makes you feel most deeply and vitally alive, along which your inner voice says, “this is the real me” and when you have found that attitude, follow it.” James Trusdale Adams

“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart…Who looks outside, dreams. Who looks inside, awakens.” Carl Jung

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi
