Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. I am currently working on a series for Second Chance to Live, but wanted to take a break to let you know what has been going on with me personally. I have written about my journey in the martial arts over the past 2 years — with the lessons that I gained through my experience.
As I shared in some of those articles, I was very excited about the possibility of being able to test for my black belt in October 2009. In November 2008 I completed an 8 hour progress check with the other black belt candidates. December 1 my Sensei met with me and told me that I had passed the progress check and would be invited to enter the 10 month black belt cycle in January 2009. As you might imagine, I was stoked.
After training for nearly 8 years with my Sensei I was getting the opportunity to enter the 10 month long black belt cycle starting in January 2009. My hard work, diligence and determination through and in my training regimens were finally paying off. I saw the “light” at the end of the tunnel.
I had my sights set on the mark — testing October 21 — 23 for my black belt in the mixed martial arts. I ratcheted up my training at the martial arts school to fulfill the physical requirements of the 10 month long black belt cycle with excitement. And then on February 3, 2009 — while training at the martial arts school, I damaged my right knee. To make a long story short I had an MRI done and the results proved that I had 2 tiny meniscus tears of my right knee.
Please read Part 2 of 2 of the series. Thank you.
