Yesterday, August 11 marked the 51st anniversary (August 11, 1967) of the accident that left me with an open skull fracture, right frontal lobe damage, a severe brain bruise with brainstem involvement. I remained in a coma for 3 weeks.
I was 10 years old at the time.
I also remained in traction for 6-7 weeks to set my left femur which fractured as I went up and over my Dad’s (who was driving) bucket seat before my head slammed into the inside of the windshield of our Volkswagon Beetle.
I then was placed in a full body cast or Spica Cast, in which I remained for 5 month. After being placed in the spica cast I was transferred, by ambulance, to a different hospital to undergo brain surgery.

Congrats on your successful outcomes and outlooks for others Craig!

Thank you, Charles. Recovery is about a process, an ongoing process, not a destination. I need to suit up and show up for my recovery process every day. Do the footwork and trust God with the outcomes. There are no silver bullets or magic potions. Just takes work. I like a quote from Thomas Edison, “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” I pray that I will continue to be willing to do the footwork, one day at a time. I hope you are doing well, Charles. Have a peaceful evening, my friend. Craig
