Following a brain injury a person’s life changes in many ways. Among those changes is the individual’s ability to relate to both themselves and other people. What once appeared to be easy, may now be a struggle. As a result the individuals may experience changes in their self-image. The changes in how individuals living with brain injuries can serve to undermine their self-esteem and their ability to accept themselves. As a result individuals living with brain injuries may find themselves stuck.
Changes in self-image, self-esteem and self-acceptance can lead the individual living with a brain injury to question their worth and value. In Living with a Brain Injury Building Self-Esteem and Self-Acceptance I speak to how the individual, living with a brain injury; can begin to re-define their sense of self-esteem and grow in self-acceptance. Although our brain injuries may change how we relate to ourselves and other people, these changes do not have to keep us feeling like victims.
