Letting Go of Unrealized Expectations to Empower Choice
Letting Go of Unrealized Expectations to Empower Choice

For individuals who learn through watching and listening I created a video presentation of this article. To watch and listen to the presentation, click on this link: Letting Go of Unrealized Expectations to Empower Choice Video Presentation

During my morning meditation I had a spiritual awakening of sorts. The spiritual awakening surrounded hope. What I had hoped for, unconsciously, for many years.

This hope motivated me in my attempts to get what I had hoped for from outside myself. As I reflected, I decided to write about this spiritual awakening.

Compassion

As I wrote; I realized that I needed to accept, with compassion, what I had been hoping would be given to me. As I focused on compassion I realized that I had been hoping to receive from people who did not have to give what I needed or wanted from them. Compassion helped me to let go of the individuals who I had been disappointed by because they were and are unable to give to me.

Empowerment

As I wrote in my journal and experienced compassion for not receiving, I realized that I could create what I had hoped to receive. In the process, I felt a sense of empowerment. A sense of empowerment because I no longer needed to hope for what I could receive from them. In the process, I found that I was able to let go of ill feelings toward people who could not give to me.

 Embracing Choice

As I wrote in my journal, I realized that I could begin to look for ways to meet what I needed and wanted. In the process, I found a new sense of empowerment, as the disappoint was replaced by hope. Hope to create what I wanted other people to give to me. Instead of feeling powerless because of expectations unfulfilled, I found myself empowered by embracing choice. The choice to create what I hoped for, wanted and needed.
