Background of Resilience
I sustained an open and depressed skull fracture, right frontal lobe damage, a severe brain bruise with brain stem involvement. This occurred in a motor vehicle accident in 1967 when I was 10 years old. I was not expected to live the night of the accident. I also was not expected to succeed beyond high school academically. I went on the obtain my undergraduate degree in 10 years and my master’s degree in 3 1/2 years.

I believe that there is tremendous power in identification. I believe identification, as opposed to comparison, empowers the individual.
It empowers the individual to break free from the shadows of isolation and from feelings of alienation.
Feelings of alienation from both other people and from themselves.
