Through my recovery process, I discovered that I did not have to be perfect to be my own hero.
Through my recovery process, I discovered that my drive to be perfect hindered my willingness to take risks.
In the process, I discovered that my belief that I needed to do things perfectly fueled my fear of failure.
I discovered that I was being driven by a taskmaster — perfectionism.
I discovered that the taskmaster bullied me through the voice of shame.
But, thank God, that I met a different guide.
A Guide that gave me Hope. A guide that helped me to change my focus.
A guide that helped me to realize that I no longer had to do things perfectly.
A guide that helped me to realize that I could; instead, do things with excellence, a little at a time.
