Living with the impact of a brain injury can be confusing and baffling for both survivors and family members. Once external wounds heal and the individual looks “normal”, expectations can leave everyone connected to the brain injury frustrated and angry. Frustration and anger can be directed at the individual living with a brain injury.
As a result, the individual living with a brain injury can feel alienated from other people and themselves. I experienced such alienation and isolation for many years, once my external wounds healed in 1967 at the age of 10.
In my experience, I unknowingly lived with the impact of a traumatic brain injury and an invisible disability for 39 years until a series of events opened my eyes to my reality. In January 2015 I wrote my 1st eBook. In the months that followed, I wrote 4 more eBooks to share what has helped me to live with the impact of a traumatic brain injury, an invisible disability and has given me the ability to pursue my dreams. Although there were /are people in my life, who could or would not accept my reality; what I discovered helped me answer many questions and move forward with my life. As you read my eBooks may you also find the courage to move forward with your life?
Answering these questions helped me to begin to love and accept myself.
