I have not written recently because I have been out-of-town visiting my Mom to celebrate her birthday. I returned home late last night and have been busy getting things done today, after being away for 5 days. In this article I would like to share part of my journey with you. I have come to realize that it is what it is, and when it is as it is, my job is to adapt. Let me explain. After flying from Charlotte to Dallas I had a connection that needed to be made in a different terminal. In order to get to that terminal, terminal E — the only one that is not connected to the other terminals A, B, C and D — I needed to take Sky link. So up the elevator I went to get on the Sky link to take me to terminal E, however when I arrived at the top; the Sky link was not working.
I was told that there was some computer issues that were interfering that needed to be repaired. So I waited and waited hoping the Sky Link would be back up and running. Well, after an hour I decided that I needed to follow an alternative plan. I found out that I would need to leave terminal C, get on a bus to be able to get to terminal E and then go through security again, once I had arrived at terminal E. Thank God that I had a long layover between my first and second flight. So I left terminal C and found where I was supposed to wait for the bus, which turned out to have a 12 seat capacity. I was the 13th person onto the bus and was told that I would have to get off. I pleaded and two ladies were kind enough to create a space between them so that I sit down to be able to travel to terminal E.
After about what seemed to be a 15 minute bus ride, we arrived at terminal E. I walked through the door, to a long line waiting to funnel through TSA. I am glad that I stayed aware as the person screening luggage took my carry on off the belt. He needed to re screen because of an error on his part. Thankfully, after imploring him to send my carry on through the x-ray machine; my carry on luggage was cleared by TSA and I was off to my connecting flight. I am grateful that I made my connecting flight and arrived on time to be picked up to go to my Mom’s house. Lesson learned is that when there is a problem noted — that is out of my control when traveling — deploy plan B, as matters may not change, as was the case with Sky link.
Upon arriving at terminal E, I looked up and saw that the Sky link was still not in operation. I am so glad that I made the decision to deploy plan B.
