Several nights ago I attended a meeting, where the topic of discussion was the 11th Step, “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God’s will for us and the power to carry that out”. As I listened to people share their thoughts I reflected upon something a mentor of mine reminds me of at times, to the affect of:
You don’t have to live life more than one day at a time. We have everything that we need for today.
As I reflected upon what my mentor shared with me, some thing “clicked” inside of me. I had a spiritual awakening, on a deeper level. I don’t have to worry about tomorrow as God will be there for me. All I need to do is to stay in today and pray for the knowledge of God’s will for me and the power to carry that out, for today. More will be revealed to me in tomorrow; tomorrow. Consequently, I can rest in what I am about today.
What this realization helped me to “see” is that I do not have to stress about or be concerned about tomorrow. Instead, I can focus on today’s business — at hand — as I feel led. I can trust that more will be revealed when tomorrow comes and then, I can take care of that business, tomorrow. Consequently, I can rest in what I am about today, with out having to stress or be anxious about tomorrow. More will be revealed to me, then.
