I have been thinking about the nature of life.
“Dreams do not vanish, so long as people do not abandon them.” Phantom F. Harlock
We may not have chosen to be brought into this world.
“No one knows enough to be a pessimist.” Wayne W. Dyer
We may be a traumatic or an acquired brain injury survivor. We may not like the way life looks today.
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” Theodore Roosevelt
We may think that life is not fair. We may believe that our life no longer matters. We may want to give up on ourselves. We may want to blame our circumstances. We may feel stuck in the ashes of our disappointment. We may find ourselves arguing with God. We may be angry at the world.
“I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.” Walt Disney
We may be convinced that our disability has derailed the life we had hoped to live. We may believe that life has passed us by. We may believe that we are limited by our limitations. We may believe that we have lost our credibility. We may believe that no one will want what we have to give.
“A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.” Winston S. Churchill
Encouragement
Let me inspire you to dream again. You will see your dreams rise from the ashes of your dismay. You will see your life take on new meaning. What once baffled you will be made clear. Your life will reveal a kaleidoscope of hope. You will fulfill your purpose and your destiny will become apparent.
“To reach a port we must sail- sail, not tie at anchor- sail, not drift.” Franklin Roosevelt
Our willingness to learn from the circumstance that life provides prepare you and I to take advantage of the lessons learned. Those lessons in turn empower our ability to benefit from the opportunities that become available to us. Those opportunities invariably point us in the direction of our destinies.
“Regardless of your lot in life, you can build something beautiful on it.” Zig Ziglar

Craig,
We salute your efforts to make brain injury more understandable. Lack of motivation is a critical area that must be addressed.

Thanks for these wonderful words and reminders…and unfortunately because we have whacked ourselves silly the memory isn’t too good so we forget. We just got to keep reminding ourselves.

Thank you very much for providing some insight into the recovery process after brain trauma. My sister was in a car accident seven weeks ago and suffered severe brain injury. This site has some very useful information for our family. We are able to better understand what she may be going through, which will enable us to help her even more. Thank you so much!
