Benefits of Neuroplasticity — My Journey and Development using Martial Art Styles — A Video Demonstration

Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. I am happy to have you around my table. I have not written any articles in the past several weeks because I was visiting family members. In several articles that I wrote prior to leaving on vacation — Neuroplasticity, Small Successes and Learning / Relearning Skill Sets and Martial Arts, Neuroplasticity and Recovering from Brain Injury – I shared the benefits that I gained through using the principle of neuroplasticity.

I shared these articles to encourage you — if you have not already begun — to begin to mirror / duplicate skills that you are able to do in your dominant hand / arm to your non dominant hand / arm / leg. Martial arts does not have to be the way in which you create new neural pathways and brain reorganization. My encouragement to you is to try different ways to find the way that works best for you my friend.

Several week ago; on August 22, 2014, a friend of mine kindly used his camera phone to record the demonstration that I was giving to benefit several interested individual. The video presentation lasts for 1 minute and 30 seconds. In this video presentation I combine different styles — components of western boxing, kali, wing chun and modern arnis — to develop and create new neural pathways and brain reorganization for both my dominant and non dominant hands / arms. To give me the ability to move / use my hands, arms and legs in new ways. I do so to create new large motor and fine motor skills.

To watch this video presentation, please click on this link: Benefits of Neuroplasticity — My Journey and Development using Martial Art Styles.

Note: I have been training and drilling in martial arts 4-5 times a week 40 -60 minutes each session for the past 16 -17 years. In my experience, I have found that persistence and tenacity has given me the ability to accomplish things that I previously dreamed impossible.

A WORD OF ENCOURAGEMENT: I am 57 years old. I continue to build upon what I have previously learned. It is because of this persistence and tenacity that I am able to put these skills together. You are never too old to use the principle of neuroplasticity to develop and create new neural pathways and brain reorganization. To create large motor and fine motor skills and abilities in your hands / arms and legs beyond what you ever dreamed possible. To accomplish things that you previously dreamed impossible. Start slow, but finish.

As you listen to, watch or read my articles and questions come to mind, please send those questions to mind. All questions are good questions. In the event that you would like to leave a comment, I would love to hear from you.To do so, please use the below contact form. I will respond to your comments and questions.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Have a great day.

Craig

Making New Years Resolutions and Winning

Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. If some one else has not already welcomed you to 2013, let me be the first to say Happy New Year.

With the start of a new year I hear people asking one another a similar question, “What is your New Years resolution?”As I hear this question being asked, I reflect upon the answer I would give if I was asked, “What is your New Years resolution?”

As I reflect upon the answer that I would give, several thoughts and quotes come to mind. These thoughts and quotes remind me that I can restart my day over at any time. These thoughts and quotes help me to look at my circumstances and experiences in a different light.

These thoughts and quotes give me focus as I work on my goals. These thoughts and quotes motivate me to get up when I fall down. These thoughts and quotes empower me to see myself as winning. These thoughts and quotes inspire me with hope.

As you read these thoughts and quotes, may you also be encouraged, motivated, empowered and inspired by hope if you are asked, “What is your New Years Resolution?”

In life I need to remember that there is no such thing as a happy victim.

Happiness is an inside job. When I look out side of myself — for happiness — I set myself up to be disappointed. I am responsible for my own happiness.

“It is not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.” Epictetus

“I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; And because I cannot do everything I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” Helen Keller

“I have not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work” Thomas Edison — inventor of the light bulb and many other inventions

“Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” Thomas Edison

“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” Robert Brault

“It’s choice–not chance–that determines your destiny.” Jean Nidetch

“There are two ways of spreading light; to be a candle or a mirror that reflects it.” Edith Wharton

“What lies behind us, and what lies before us, are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Courage does not always roar, sometimes it is a quiet voice at the end of the day, saying “I will try again tomorrow.” Mary Ann Radmacher

“Regardless of your lot in life, you can build some thing beautiful on it.” Zig Zigler

Overcoming Adversity — The Obstacle in Our Path — Changing our Perspective Video Presentation

Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. Thank you for taking the time to visit with me. Yesterday I wrote and published an article, Overcoming Adversity – The Obstacle in Our Path – Changing Our Perspective. In my experience, I have found that individuals learn in different ways.

Some individuals learn through reading, while other individuals learn through watching and listening. To empower individuals who learn through watching and listening, I create video presentations of my articles.

Finding Wholeness in Our Body, Soul and Spirit Video Presentation

Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. In today’s article, I am going to introduce a video presentation of my article, Finding Wholeness in Our Body, Soul and Spirit.

In my experience, I have found that living as a human being involves functioning in those dimensions. In my experience and through my studies I have found that these dimensions involve my body (the vehicle helps me to experience my world), my soul (who and what makes me uniquely me as an individual) and my spirit (the part of me that enables me to connect to what is not seen). In my experience, I have found that independently these dimensions limit my capacity to live my life, however collectively these dimensions (body, soul and spirit) synergize my capacity to live my life.

In this video presentation, I share what I have learned through my process. To watch the video presentation please click on the following link my friend. Finding Wholeness in Our Body, Soul and Spirit Video Presentation

In the event that you would like to read the article in addition to watching the video presentation, please click on the following link Finding Wholeness in Our Body, Soul and Spirit

Finding Wholeness in Our Body, Soul and Spirit

In my experience I have found that living life is a mufti-dimensional experience.

Through my experience, I have found that when I am sick in my body, I am not able to accomplish what I want to do with my life. Like wise, in my experience, I have found when I am sick in my soul, my self-esteem, self-worth and self-value all suffer. Furthermore, in my experience I have found that when my spirit is sick I am unable to connect with the Source that gives me the ability to live beyond my body and soul’s capacity to perceive and comprehend. Consequently, with these awareness’s I have grown in my ability to recognize and address matters that interfere with the health and wholeness of my body, soul and spirit as I live my life.

I gained these awareness’ through my process and my journey as I share in my series, My Journey thus Far.  During the course of the past 25 + years I have grown in my awareness and acceptance of what created sickness and disease in my body, soul and spirit. My awareness and acceptance has helped me to find a new freedom and given me the ability to experience my life in a whole new way. My awareness and acceptance has taught me how to trust. During the course of the past 70 months I have sought to share to these awareness’ and the subsequent acceptance that I have gained through articles and presentations created for Second Chance to Live.

The ongoing awareness and acceptance has encouraged, motivated and empowered my ability to take necessary action steps to follow my dreams, find my bliss and pursue my purpose. Although I spent many years of my life feeling like some one all dressed up with no where to go, during the past 70 months I have been able to change the course of my life to follow my bliss, my dreams and my destiny. During the past 70 months I have written 995 articles and created 100 video presentations to share what I discovered as I grew in my awareness and acceptance. To access a list and to read my articles please click on this link, Site Map for my Articles. To see a list and watch my presentations, please click on this link, Site Map for my You Tube Video Presentations.

Note:

In my experience, I have found that if nothing changes it remains the same. I have also found that I do myself justice by working on one issue at a time. By working on one issue at a time, I am able to manage the anxiety that seems to come with any change. By working on one issue –involving my body, soul or spirit – I am able to keep myself from being overwhelmed. By working on one issue – my body, soul or spirit – I am able to celebrate the gains and some times small success’ that I make through making those changes in my life. By working on one issue at a time, I am able to see my experience as a process and a journey, not as a destination.
