As an individual living with the impact of a traumatic brain injury and an invisible disability I came to specific realizations. To be able to move forward with my life after my traumatic brain injury I needed to accept what I could not change.
One of the most important points in my life came when I could no longer deny what I could not change. Although excruciatingly painful, I am so thankful that I reached this point in time. A point in time when I could no longer deny what I could not change.
A point in time when my life began to change.
A point in time when I began to thrive, instead of merely survive. In the process, I was able to stop fighting against myself. In the process, I was able to stop focusing on what I could no longer change, despite my best efforts. In the process, I was able to find a freedom that I never knew existed. A freedom to let go to move forward. To move forward with my life, despite what other people could not accept about my life.
In May 2008 I wrote a 7 Part series to share what helped me to move forward with my life. Below are links to the written article series.
