Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. You are always welcome both here on Second Chance to Live and on my Second Chance to Live You Tube channel. Yesterday, Christmas was celebrated by millions if not billions of people around the world. For many the hustle and bustle of the season was reduced the day to giving and acquiring things and “blings”.
For some, the absence of those things and “blings” around the proverbial Christmas tree resulted in a let down or disappointment. For some, the reason for that let down and disappointment can be traced to the duping or belief – as purported by advertisers or peer suggestion – that one’s satisfaction and contentment would be fulfilled by the acquisition of those things or “blings.” If these things and “blings” are not present, neither is satisfaction.
In my morning meditation, reflection and pondering I came to several realizations that I would like to share with you. If I allow what other people think or believe define my satisfaction, contentment and well-being, I will lose myself. Consequently, I need to be the one who establishes what satisfaction, contentment and well-being is to me. I am the one who needs to write my own prescription for satisfaction, contentment and well-being.
These realizations need to be applied in my life every day of the year. If I am waiting for some one to define what fulfills my life and existence, I need to step back and ask, “Why?” I then need to get busy being true to myself. I need to do the work to define what is on the inside of me — in my body, soul and spirit — and ask, “What truly satisfies, brings about contentment and fulfills my being.” For if I do not, I may find out as years go by that I never truly lived my life.
Today’s Thought
Pursue your passions. Pursue your dreams. Pursue that which brings satisfaction, contentment and fulfillment to your being.
Insist on yourself, never imitate. You own gift you can present every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another you have only an extemporaneous half-possession…do that which is assigned to you and you can not hope too much or dare too much.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
“When I was a child my mother said to me, ‘If you become a soldier, you’ll be a general. If you become a monk, you’ll be the pope.’ Instead I became a painter and wound up as Picasso.” Pablo Picasso
