Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. Thank you for making the decision to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. Recently, some one sent a comment to me that got me to thinking. Let me share some thing with you that I shared with that individual. What I shared with this reader helps me to keep my focus as pursue my mission and vision, interact with people and go about my business.
I like a prayer that Mother Teresa had posted on her door in Calcutta when she was alive. The prayer is her version of the prayer, and her version of the prayer is called “Do it Anyway“. I will include a copy of that prayer. The whole prayer’s content is intentional. One line of the prayer particularly helps me to keep focus – the line at the bottom of the prayer — the last line, “You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway. The last line of the prayer helps to reorient my focus when I find myself distracted overtly or covertly by what other people think, their attitudes or their opinions.
In my experience, when I focus on this line — It was never between you and them anyway — I am empowered to keep the focus on my mission and vision. In my experience, when I focus on the line, You see in the final analysis, it is between you and God — I am able to detach from individuals; individuals who would overtly or covertly seek to minimize, marginalize, dismiss or discount who I am and what I do, for whatever reason — because I know that in the final analysis(who I am and what I do) it is not between me and them anyway.
The prayer helps me to remember that I need to check my motives, when people come against me, for whatever reason. The prayer helps me to remember that my mission and vision is to be of service and to serve a loving God. The prayer helps me to remember what I do with the skill, talent and ability — that I have been given to be of service — is between me and God. The prayer helps me to remember that I need to stay committed to the process, regardless of what may happen as I live my life. The prayer helps to remind me to keep trusting the process, a loving God and myself because more will be revealed to me in time.
The prayer helps me to remember that I can relax and entrust the outcomes of my footwork to a loving God, regardless of how people may treat me. The prayer helps me to keep the focus on my mission and vision, regardless of what may come against me.
Mother Teresa version of the prayer – Do It Anyway
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered; Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies; Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you’ve got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It was never between you and them anyway.
“Be the change you want to see in the world.” Mahatma Gandhi
“If you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams and endeavor to live the life that you have imagined…you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” Henry David Thoreau
“Insist on yourself, never imitate. Your own gift you can present with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation, but of the adopted talent of another you only have an extemporaneous half-possession… Do that what which is assigned to you, and you can not hope too much or dare too much.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

The source of life, provides more than our life will every achieve, but it will not stop if one, only one, is encouraged to do what others say is impossible. The impossible is an everyday event for our God.

Hi Shaun,
I agree with you. Very profound my friend. A mystery indeed revealed in time. Our gifts, talents and abilities are not off us, but through us on loan from God. We just get to go along for the ride. One day at a time. Thank you for leaving the comment and for your friendship. God bless you Shaun.
