Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. Several days ago while watching motivational you tube video presentations, I came across a video presentation that I wanted to share with you. The particular video presentation is, Shy Boy and his Friend Shock the Audience with The Prayer. In this presentation on Britain’s Got Talent, Charlotte and Jonathan are introduced to the audience. In a brief intro before they went before the audience:
Charlotte — this 16 year old girl — made a profound statement, “Before you make a judgment on some one at least you should get to know them. It’s cliche to not judge a book by it’s cover, you have got to read what’s inside.”
After Jonathan and Charlotte walked onto the stage and stood before the judges, the camera scanned the audience. Several girls were seen rolling their eyes, as though they did not think that Jonathan and Charlotte had a chance. After Jonathan and Charlotte sang the camera again scanned the audience and at this time the individuals scanned were standing, clapping and some had tears in their eyes. What initially appeared to be judgment in the audience, turned to applause and validation for what they had just seen performed.
After the performance Simon Cowell commented that Charlotte was good and that Jonathan was unbelievable and that you Jonathan have an outstandingly beautiful voice. After Simon had complimented Jonathan he said to Charlotte,” I feel that you are going to hold back Jonathan by staying a duo. After Simon said that to Charlotte, after a pause Jonathan stated, “Well, we came on here as a duo and we are going to stay here as a duo.” Coming from this 17 year old boy spoke volumes. Standing up to the opinion of Simon Cowell in front of this huge audience, showed courage, focus and above all, loyalty.
The presentation celebrated the gifts that both of these young people possess, despite the judgment that the audience had of them when they walked out on stage. The presentation brought tears to my eyes. Their performance brought tears to my eyes because, in this presentation I saw two individuals shine amidst people who did not see them as having the ability to shine. In life you may have people who do not believe that you have the ability to shine. My encouragement to you is shine on anyway. Celebrate who you are my friend.
Develop your gifts, talents and abilities and use them in ways that work for you and you will shine.
