I discovered that I no longer needed to judge my efforts and that I could pursue progress, not perfection. I discovered that I could stay off my back and that I could be gentle with myself.
I discovered that I could use my gifts, talents and abilities in ways that work for me, for the people who want what I had to give. I discovered that I no longer needed to be invested in specific outcomes, but that I could find satisfaction by doing the footwork – planting seeds – while trusting a loving God with the outcomes. I discovered that I could let go of the big picture and trust the process. I discovered that I could trust a loving God to put the pieces of the puzzle together in the correct order and at the right time.
I discovered what I had thought was meant for my harm – in the disappointments, discouragement and despondency that I experienced through the struggles and seeming failures of my past – were in reality preparing my ability to pursue my bliss in the now. I discovered that my circumstances were meant to build me up and not to keep me down. I discovered that my circumstances, lessons, opportunities and experiences together point me in the direction of my destiny. In the process, I discovered practical hope.
“Insist on yourself, never imitate. Your own gift you can present with every moment with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another, you have only an extemporaneous half-possession…Do that which is assigned to you, and you can not hope too much or dare too much.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
“If you advance confidently in the direction of your destiny and endeavor to live the life that you have imagined…you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” Henry David Thoreau
“Through out life I encountered many experiences that seemed to be failures at the time. What time has taught me is that my “failures” were not set backs, but rather set ups. Set ups to prepare me to create a masterpiece. Setups to prepare me to succeed in life beyond my wildest dreams.” Craig J. Phillips MRC, BA
