Living with a Traumatic Brain Injury – How to Influence Your World

Recently, a visitor of Second Chance to Live asked me a question. They wanted to know how they could go about sharing poems and what they learned through their experience of living with an injury. In the process of answering their question, I felt led to share the information here on Second Chance to Live. If you are asking a similar question, “How can I share what I have to give with a greater audience, than the audience that I am influencing at the present time?”, I would encourage you to read on.

For many years of my life I felt like some one all dressed up with no where to go. No one seemed to want what I had to give. In my experience, I found myself discouraged and frustrated. In an attempt to give what I had to give, I wrote a book and after registering my book with the Library of Congress, I attempted to get my book published. Nevertheless, after spending nearly $100 in my attempts to get a publisher interested, I decided to try something different.

I then wrote an autobiography, however no one was interested in that work either my friend. Several weeks later a friend of mine suggested that I start a blog, as he said that my material would be “ripe for a blog”. After doing a lot of research on different blogging engines, I decided to start a blog on I did so on February 6, 2007 to share my experience, strength and hope. In my experience, I have found that Second Chance to Live has given me a wonderful medium to share myself.

Using a blog may be an excellent way to share and accomplish what you would like to do through your thoughts, poems, experience, strength and hope, in a way that would work for you. In my experience, I have found that my web log – Second Chance to Live – has opened doors that I would never have dreamed possible. The world wide web has made sharing Second Chance to Live a global experience. In my experience, I have learned to do the footwork and then trust a loving God with the outcomes.

Second Chance to Live has given me a wonderful opportunity to share what I have to give in ways that work for me, for the people who want what I have to give.

Below are several quotes that have been pivotal and foundational in both my life and in the life of Second Chance to Live.

“Do not wait for leaders, do it alone, person to person.” Mother Teresa

“If you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams and endeavor to life the life that you have imagine…you will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.” Henry David Thoreau

“Do not judge your day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds that you plant.” Robert Louis Stevenson

“Insist on yourself, never imitate. Your own gift you can present with the cumulative force of a whole life’s cultivation; but of the adopted talent of another you only have an extemporaneous half-possession…Do that which is assigned to you, and you can not hope too much or dare too much.”Ralph Waldo Emerson

“You don’t have to be a person of influence to be influential. In fact, the most influential people in my life are probably not even aware of the things they’ve taught me.” Scott Adams — American Cartoonist

“Everyone is trying to do some thing big, not realizing that life is made up of small things.” Frank A Clark

“I have heard that the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Once we start walking on that journey, before long we will be able to look back and see how far we have come on our journey — because we did not give up.” Craig J. Phillips MRC, BA

“…You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God; it was never between you and them anyway.” Mother Teresa
