Today I am going to introduce the principle of Progress not Perfection. This article has 2 parts and I would encourage you to read both parts of the article.

My hope is that as you read each part of the article and watch my YouTube presentation you will find freedom from the task master called perfectionism.
For many years of my life, I cowered under the cruel taskmaster called perfectionism. Under the taskmaster I was enslaved as a human doing. As a human doing I sought to prove my worth, value and significance through measuring up to the demands and expectations of the taskmaster.
Nevertheless, many of my efforts to satisfy the taskmaster were met with dissatisfaction and disapproval.
What made matters more difficult — living under the tutelage of the taskmaster — was that the taskmaster would invariably either raise or move the bar of expectation or demand each time that I thought I had met the implicit or explicit expectation or demand.
Bar of Expectation Moved
Because I found that the bar of expectation was often raised or moved, the taskmaster called perfectionism communicated to me that my efforts were simply not good enough. Through repeated conditioning of this message — that my efforts were simply not good enough — I began to believe that there must be some thing wrong with me. Consequently – over time – and because I was unable to reach the bar(s) of expectation(s) or demands — to satisfy the requirements of the taskmaster — I began to believe that I was not enough.
Nevertheless, I continued to strive to gain the approval and validation of the taskmaster — to prove that I was enough.
Because I was striving to do enough to be enough – in the eyes of the taskmaster – I continued to strive to be perfect in an attempt to gain the approval and validation of the taskmaster.
In my experience, I continued to be captivated and controlled by the taskmaster until I began to realize that I would never to be able to do enough to satisfy the expectations or demands of the taskmaster.
I began to be free from the expectations or the taskmaster when the pain of being unable to meet the demands of the taskmaster, exceeded my need to have the approval and validation — of my worth and value — by the taskmaster.
I reached this threshold of awareness when I began to accept that myself and my reality. I reached this threshold of awareness when I began to realize that my best efforts to succeed were simply good enough.
