Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Thank you. Today is Memorial Day and I wanted to give a BIG SHOUT out to the men and women of the armed services. Thank you for the service and sacrifice that both you and your families have given and in response, experienced through serving our great country. May God richly bless you for your service and sacrifice.
Several months ago, Gabrielle Giffords life was changed forever when she was shot in the head. Her resulting traumatic brain injury left her in a very vulnerable position, in many ways. Over the months she has received optimal care and subsequent rehabilitation. I am not sure if she has received exemplary care because of her being an important person or just because she was / is in need of such care.
Please watch this short movie by Lizzie Palmer – Remember Me
There is a common similarity between Gabrielle Giffords and the unnamed men and women of the armed services. Both were serving their country men / women when their traumatic brain injuries occurred. Nevertheless, as we look closer we may see that there is a stark dissimilarity between Gabrielle Gifford’s and the men and women of the armed services.
One is receiving all the care, consideration and necessary long term rehabilitation necessary to enhance their quality of life, while the other only receives a certain amount of limited care, consideration and rehabilitation. My hope is that as this article is being read that a change will take place — to end this disparity.
For those who have the power in the United States government, please step up to the plate. Serve the men and women of the armed service – who are also in a vulnerable position. Do what you need to do provide the same standard and quality of care — as is being given to Gabrielle Giffords and her family — to the men and women of the armed services who sustained their traumatic brain injuries in the execution of serving our great country.
Our country owes these individuals this same dept of gratitude — as is being given to Gabrielle Giffords and her family.
Thank you for doing what is right.
