Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. Several years ago, actually in February 2004 I wrote a poem. The title of the poem is “Wandering in the Night” and I wrote the poem to illustrate a reality. You and I like the bat, owl and cat have been created with natural abilities. As we learn to use our natural abilities we naturally flow.
Such an awareness allows me to slow down and stop trying to be some thing and some one other than I am. Such awareness, frees me to focus on what I can do so that I do not get distracted by what I can not do in life. My encouragement to you my friend – as I need to remember – focus on what you can do, not on what you can not do with your life.
“A traumatic brain injury, a disability or any other type of trauma, abuse or adversity – that we may face during our life times — is merely a switch on the railroad of life that points us in the direction of our destinies. As we move down the track –that is set before us – we can learn how to use our natural abilities in ways that work for us.” Craig J. Phillips
Wandering in the Night (Feb. 9, 2004)
The moon stood still
Round and full, listlessly hanging
In the sky so bright
Providing a glimpse into the night
Bats unaware, flying with echo location
Owls and all manner of cat in magnification
Using the rays provided from above
Moving about effortlessly, stalking their prey
And so it is, unabated by seeming lack
Unrestrained by seeming limitation
By darkness looming in the shadows
Of the moon, alight
So, it is with the bat, the owl and the cat
Gracefully apart, use what has been given
To be at the start, to have an end
Unaware of what is not
“My mother said to me, ‘If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope.’ Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso.” Pablo Picasso
