Through exerting determination, perseverance, courage and tenacity — even in the face of discouragement and disappointment — I make the decision to stay committed to my process. With my commitment I choose to actively participate in every area of my life. By actively participating in my life, I give myself the opportunity to grow in every area of my life.
By being an active participant in my life, I give myself the chance to experience my life, learn about myself and to share what I have learned in the mirror of my experience.
I give myself the opportunity to develop what works best for me — my jeet kune do — while discarding what does not work for me. By keeping and using the principle of jeet kune do to guide me, I am able to rest assured that my circumstances and experiences are being used to build me up, not keep me down. I am able to have this assurance because I know that I am willing to learn.
I am not suggesting that I use this principle perfectly — but my awareness gives me the courage to keep looking in the mirror and to keep learning from my experience.
