Please read Part 1 for context. Thank you.
In part 1 of this series I spoke about the struggle that the 18 year old woman faced between what she wanted and her reality. Although she wanted her circumstances to be different, she made the decision to accept her reality. With her decision – accepting the reality that she was a “queue” — she realized that she would be limited in certain regards, but unlimited in other regards.
As a traumatic brain injury survivor – with specific deficits and limitations – I found myself unable to pursue what I wanted. For many years I struggled to accept my reality – because I found that my deficits and limitations kept me from achieving my hopes and dreams. In my despair I could not see how I was unlimited in my ability to use my gifts, talents and abilities.
For a more in depth insight into my struggle to accept my reality, please read My Journey thus Far.
With the encouragement of family members and my trusted friends I wrote an autobiography – unpublished and not in circulation. I then decided to write a book – Table Topics for the Soul – Journey to the Heart – which is registered with the Library of Congress but not published or in circulation. The next part of my journey – at the encouragement of a friend – was to create a web log.
With apprehension and some trepidation I created my web log — Second Chance to Live – on February 6, 2007 to share my experience and hope. Over the past 3 years or so I have grown in my ability to communicate through print. Sure I have had my times of frustrations and discouragement, but I am so glad that I did not give up or allow my deficits and limitations to limit my gifts, talents and abilities.
