Hello and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. Remember, you are always welcome around my table. In the past several days I have been thinking about several quotes that I heard. The quotes have been a source of encouragement and inspiration to me. May quotes be an encouragement to you my friend.
“It is not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters” Epictetus
This quote encourages me remember that I have choices in life. What happens to me no longer needs to be considered a random set to circumstances. Consequently, I no longer need to believe that I am a victim of what happens to me. Instead, I can choose to see what happens to me as an ally, not an adversary. With this realizations, I can learn and grow “because” of what “happens to me. How I choose to respond to what occurs in my life is mine alone. With this awareness comes personal power.
“Most of us have far more courage than we ever dreamed we possessed” Dale Carnegie
In this quote I am encouraged to believe. Believe that I can pursue my dreams in ways that work for me. Through this quote I am encouraged to pull out the stops — to discard negativity and pessimism — and use my gifts, talents and abilities through my circumstances. What happens to me provides the possibilities that otherwise would not be available to me. Through courage, I can prepare myself for the opportunities that exist because of the way that my circumstances look at the present time.
“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe” Aristotle France
The message of this quote encourages me to keep going even when the light is faint — at the end of the tunnel. I am also motivated to advance confidently in the direction of my dreams — taking one step at a time. I am empowered to continue to believe that I will meet with success by not giving up on the process, a loving God and myself –because I know that more will be revealed in time. Finally this quote encourages me to keep going, even when giving up may appear to be a very good idea.
“How you respond to the challenge in the second half will determine what you become after the game… whether you are a winner or a loser” Lou Holtz
I do not believe in winning and losing in life — because I do not have the big picture. What I do believe in is choice. I can choose how I respond to life, even when I forget that I have choices. Consequently, I am reminded that how I choose to respond to what happened to me — in the past — no longer has to determine or dictate how I choose — in the now — to respond. With my awareness I can determine how I am going to respond to my challenge (s) — in the second half.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. I have determined to keep moving” Craig J. Phillips
“If you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams and endeavor to live the life that you have imagined… you will meet with success unexpected in common hours” Henry David Thoreau
