Hello and welcome back to second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by to visit with me. In some of my earlier articles I used the phrase, “I am glad you decided to stop by to rest”. I used the phrase “being at rest” because of an important spiritual principle.
I believe that when I am at rest with myself, I am able to accept myself. When I accept myself, I am able to live in the moment. And when I live in the moment, I live life on life’s terms. As I live life on life’s terms, I am able to receive and accept that I am right where I am supposed to be in the moment.
By accepting the reality of this present moment, I am able to seize the moment. Through seizing the moment, I embrace freedom. When I am free, I am able to create with out inhibition or fear because of my disability.
The beauty found in this awareness honors me, as I honor the moment. When I am in the moment, I am not limited by the moment, but I am free to be in the moment. My moment does not change me. What changes me in the moment is how I create with my moment.
My disability does not change my moment. My use of the moment changes my disability. Therefore, I am not limited by the moment, because I choose to use my moment. My disability may change the way that I use my moment, but I no longer have to be limited by my disability.
Your disability does not change your moment. Your use of the moment changes your disability. Therefore you no longer need to be limited by your disability. Instead, you can choose to use your moment in ways that work for you.
Our abilities may change in the moment, but we no longer need to be changed by our abilities. As we accept ourselves for who we are–not our limitations, deficits, or disabilities– we can rest in the moment. Consequently, the moment becomes our friend rather a reminder of our disability, deficits or limitations.
