And then one day I saw a crack in the box that led me to notice something new. I discovered that fresh air and light existed beyond the confines of the box. As I made the decision to break free from the code of black and white thinking I discovered that a whole new world of choices and solutions existed beyond the confines of the box. With my efforts to break free of the confines of the box I also gained the courage to venture out side of the box of my black and white thinking / all or none thinking.
Because I took the risk to look beyond the confines of the box I discovered that I was free to make choices. The light that was revealed to me– outside the box — empowered my capacity to consider the possibilities. The limitations that I once placed upon life were being replaced with an understanding that empowered my process. Instead of feeling as though I was being victimized by my circumstances I learned to use those circumstances.
As I ventured to think out side of the box, I discovered that I had also placed my understanding of God in a box. You see, in my black and white / all or none thinking I believed that the God of my understanding could only operate by the rules of my black and white / all or none thinking. What I discovered was that the God of my understanding did not live in the box that I created for Him.
I came to realize that the God of my understanding did not change. He always remained the same. The only thing that changed was that I became willing to let the God of my understanding out of the box that I had imposed on Him. Through my process I discovered that I can trust a loving God who is infinitely interested in the plan that He has for my life. I also realized that He wanted to have a relationship with me that is based upon faith and trust rather than measuring up to a black and white / all or none system.
With my new understanding of God my relationship with the God of my understanding has matured. Consequently, I have learned to trust Him.
