In the past week or so, my presence on Second Chance to Live has been filled with my absence. You see I have been in the hospital. Over the years I have experienced reoccurring sinus infections. With the help of various prescription and non-prescription medication several weeks ago I started to experience symptoms that appeared to be a sinus infection. As with times in the past, I began treating the symptoms with the hope that the medications would arrest the onset of the infection. My due diligence appeared to be working until I woke up August 17, 2008, with something definitely wrong with my left eye. I went to church for a time and felt that I needed to go back home. When I arrived home I decided to lay down to take a nap.
When I woke about an hour later and went into the bathroom and looked into the mirror my left eyelid had come down upon my left eye.
I was going to drive myself to the emergency room but then decided to go back to my apartment and call for an ambulance. The ambulance arrived and I was taken to the emergency room. After being triaged through the waiting room I was taken to be placed in a room to be seen by a Doctor. The Dr. examined me and decided to have a Ct scan be done on my sinus’s and eye orbits. Following the CT scan, I was taken back to the emergency room where I learned that I was going to be admitted to the hospital.
I spent the next 4 days receiving IV antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Slowly my left eyelid came back over my left I appeared to be getting better so the medical team decided to discharge me from the hospital on the morning of August 21 at 10 am.
