Hi and welcome back to Second Chance to Live my friend. Thank you for stopping by to visit with me. You are always welcome around my table. Yesterday I wrote a post about Riding Blind. I used the illustration of not being able to see the course that awaited me on the other side of my mountain, the mountain of my disappointment and discouragement. As I developed my article — Second Chance to Live and Riding Blind — I shared how I had learned to trust the process while riding blind.
I went on to elaborate upon what I learned through my process.
Through surveying the times in my life where I found myself riding blind I discovered a precious reality. My successes, although accompanied by disappointment and discouragement were preparing me to soar. Although I thought my efforts were made void by my disappointment and discouragement — at the time — I now know that my efforts were propelling me forward. My disappointment and discouragement were in essence the catalysts that spurred me on to my next success.
My discouragement and disappointment motivated me to look for solutions. I am not saying that I did not get down on myself because I did. What spurred me on was my decision to get up and keep moving. Through my process I discovered that my disappointment and discouragement were not fatal. Consequently I grew to value and appreciate the opportunities created by my disappointment and my discouragement.
Because I choose to learn from my disappointment and discouragement I succeeded because of my experience.
In essence, by deciding to get back up and keep moving — despite my disappointment and discouragement — I gave myself the opportunity to succeed because of my disappointment and discouragement. Through riding blind — during times in my life — I have been able to string together a series of successes despite the disappointment and discouragement I experienced between those successes. My successes evolved through my experience because I choose to learn from my experiences rather than give up because of the disappointments and discouragement that accompanied those experiences.
Consequently, the successes that I have achieved emerged because of my disappointments and discouragements because I refused to give up on my process.
So when you find yourself disappointed and discouraged my friend be encouraged because you are being prepared for greatness. Our successes — even though those successes may appear to be made void by our disappointment and discouragement — are preparing you and I to live the life that we have imagined. Although we may not be able to see — now — how those successes are going to fit together we can rest assured that we will get what we need to move us in the direction of our destinies.
Consequently, we can take courage when we face disappointment and discouragement, because we can be assured that we are being prepared for greatness.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Winston Churchill
