Good morning and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am glad you decided to stop by and visit with me my friend. I have been thinking about the topic of perseverance. For me, perseverance means I stay committed to the process regardless of what comes against me. I am not talking about just being stubborn to prove a point or to stand my ground. Perseverance means that I remain dedicated to pursuing what I believe I am being led to accomplish in life. Perseverance helps me to keep my focus.
“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” Theodore Roosevelt
Perseverance does not mean that I do things perfectly. The measure of success – in my estimation – is determined by my willingness to rise once again. Perseverance means that I rely on learning the lesson through determination. Success is not measured by the destination. Pursuing excellence enables me to celebrate the process because I do not seek to qualify my worth and value through doing. Perseverance becomes an extension of my being. I abide through my being, not in my doing.
“Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles, which he has overcome while trying to succeed.” Booker T. Washington
Obstacles are not meant to predicate our worth and value. Our response to those obstacles instead help to mold who we are in our beings. Perseverance is not defined in the outcome, but in the moment. As I have heard, yard by yard life is hard, inch by inch, life’s a cinch. Our decision to persevere in the moment empowers you and I to relish in our small gains. Small gains empower our ability to trust the process. Perseverance helps you and I to build momentum in life.
Perseverance empowers you and I to grow beyond our limitations.
“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.” Robert Louis Stevenson
