Good morning my friend and welcome back to Second Chance to Live. I am happy to see that you decided to stop by and visit with me. Through my experience as a traumatic brain injury survivor, I have come to accept certain realities. I do not have to know everything, I do not have to figure out how the pieces of my process are going to fit together and I do not have to be bound by time. I do not have to know the beginning from the end or the end from the beginning. As I relax and trust that I am being led in the direction of my destiny, I am able to let go of the outcomes. Although I may not understand why I have been “dealt” the hand of cards, I can trust that more will be revealed in time.
I have a quote taped to the front of my computer that I think about frequently. The power, inherent in the words of the quote encourages me to dream. Life may scream at me and tell me how my limitations and deficits are going to prevent me from reaching my dreams. My circumstances may want to dissuade and discourage me from pursuing my passion and bliss. I may have people in my life, who seek to belittle my aspirations, because of their insecurities. I may have other people who minimize my journey because they can not accept that I have an invisible disability. I may have had many disappointments and setbacks through out my lifetime, which sought to devalue my self worth, self-esteem and my vision. I may have felt like someone all dressed up with no where to go with what I had to give to my fellows.
“If you advance confidently in the direction of your dreams and endeavor to live the life that you have imagined…you will meet with success unexpected in common hours.” Henry David Thoreau
The good news is that I know — despite having experienced all of the above struggles, trials and times when I believed life had rejected my presence – I have a future and a hope. My journey will surely lead me to fulfill my destiny. I will impact my generation and leave a lasting legacy of hope. Consequently, I will chose to stay committed to trusting the process, to trusting a loving God and to trusting my ability to learn from my circumstances and experiences. I may not have answers to my questions, I may question my circumstances, but I do not have to question my purpose. I may encounter struggles and disappointments on my journey, but I KNOW that I will subsequently grow stronger in my focus. Therefore, I chose to be undaunted by fear or discouragement because I KNOW that I will fulfill my destiny. I will set in motion of a wave of positive synergy that will bring a tide of healing and refreshment to those on the shore of life. I will encourage people to set sail on the high sea of their hopes and dreams. Consequently my brothers and sister’s will launch out into the deep and in so doing will they trust their process, a loving God and themselves.
My friend, you may be experiencing circumstances that appear daunting and foreboding. You may be dreading life itself. You may find yourself wanting to throw the towel in and give up. You may not see how any good could come out of your experience or circumstances. You may believe you have given a “raw deal” because you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. I can empathize with you on that front because for too many years I bought into that notion. I have found the opposite to be true. My destiny was set in motion through my traumatic brain injury. I was in the right place at the right time. You were in the right place at the right time. Your destiny will be revealed and you will dream again. Your experiences and circumstances will bring you to a world of understanding that will enable you to be a light to your brothers and sisters who may be alone in darkness. You will bring comfort and hope to a new generation. You will set in motion of a wave of positive synergy that will bring a tide of healing and refreshment to those on the shore of life. You will encourage people to set sail on the high sea of their hopes and dreams. Consequently, your brothers and sister’s will launch out into the deep and in so doing your generation will trust the process, a loving God and themselves.
Trust me my friend, you will find your stride again and you will prosper in your body, mind and spirit. If you have a hard time believing what I am telling you, believe because I believe my friend. You are a miracle. You are a light. You are a gift to your world and you are a blessing to me. Please do not give up on your process, on the God who loves you and sits with you when you cry, or on yourself because more will be revealed in time.
