I am seeking a group that supports family members of tbi vets. I have over 40 years of experience in the field of brain injuries from developmental disabilities to acquired injury.
The family members need info and support to provide the positive love and understanding that the person with tbi will need. Do you know of any such group that I could volunteer my time?
Thank you – you are loved and understood more than you know. vg

Hi Veronica,
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment. I am sorry I have not gotten back to you sooner, however I have been thinking about your request. I am not working in the field — doing counseling — so I do not have any specific contacts for you. I have sent out an email to several of my contacts that serve soldiers and marines to see if they know of opportunites for you. I will let you know when I hear back from them my friend.
I would encourage you to contact the VFW in your local area, as they may be able to be a resource of potential opportunities. Also, contact your local institute of rehabilitation that serves traumatic brain injury survivors in your area. They could be a fertile resource for potential opportunities to be of service and help you network to locate other opportunities.
I will be in touch with you as I hear back from my contacts.
Have a simply phenomenal day and God bless you Veronica.
Craig

Hi Veronica,
Both of my contacts got back with me. One of those contacts will be out of their office until next week. My contact told me that she will send me information next week. I will pass that information on to you when I receive the information.
The information I received in my mail tonight from my friend Cherie Reid with Kid’s thank a Veteran http://www.kidsthankavet.com is as follows:
Hi Craig,
The only organization that I can think of is “Wounded Warriors”. They have volunteers that work with soldiers that have been injured with amputations and brain injuries from Iraq and Afghanistan. Their main headquarters is 7020 A.C. Skinner Parkway, Ste 100, Jacksonville, Florida 32256. If she calls there, she might be able to find the local Wounded Warrior group in her area. The number is 904-296-7350.
If I think of any other organizations I’ll email you the information.
Have a good evening,
Cherie
My friend, Colleen Saffron from Operation Life Transformed http://www.lifetransformed.org will contact me when she gets back to her office. I will send that information on to you next week Veronica.
I hope the above helps you. God bless you my friend.
Have a pleasant evening.
Craig

Hello Sir,
I have a friend in Florida that may be able to help you. I will send your email to her along with you comment to me. Hopefully she will get up with you in the near future. In the mean time I found this list of support groups http://www.orlandobraininjurysupport.org/bisupport.htm in Florida. You may want to contact one of the groups in your area and ask them if they know of other support groups not listed the above link. I hope that helps you my friend.
Also, you may find a tremendous amount of support by reading articles from my Site Map https://secondchancetolive.org/site-map/. Currently, I have 392 published articles. Although not all of the titles have traumatic brain injury or living with a disability in the title, I believe you will be benefited by taking the time to read through the articles my friend.
If you have any questions as you read through the articles, please do not hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to answer those questions or help you find answer.
I look forward to hearing from you. Please stay in touch with me. Thank you. Craig

E-mail me….I don’t know what we can achieve together…but I do know it is more than being alone.
I work with people with developmental disabilities. I have years of experience with social security, community outreach, coping with a new reality for the tbi person and their family. A good sounding board. EMAIL ME! Maybe I can help.
You are loved. VG
